OTT Releases Sept 28-Oct 4: What Is Already Streaming and What Comes Next

The final days of September are turning into one of the busier streaming weeks of 2026.

But there is an important difference between this list and the usual “upcoming OTT releases” article.

As of September 29, some of the week’s biggest titles are already available, while most of the major Indian premieres are concentrated between September 30 and October 2.

Netflix has animation, anime, reality TV, true crime and a Florence Pugh drama. Prime Video brings back Dupahiya. JioHotstar has one of Malayalam cinema’s biggest theatrical hits of the year, while ZEE5 finally releases Pooja Meri Jaan.

Here is the updated OTT release calendar for September 28 to October 4, 2026.

The first useful takeaway is obvious – October 2 is the busiest day of the week.

That is when Indian crime drama, Malayalam cinema, Tamil romance, Hollywood drama, Formula 1 documentary content and a major mountaineering documentary all land within hours of each other.

Already Streaming – September 28 and 29

Outside – Netflix

The Sidemen have taken the idea behind Inside and literally moved it outside.

Outside premiered on Netflix on September 28 and puts 12 content creators in a remote forest where they compete for a share of £1 million.

The catch is simple – comforts cost money from the prize fund.

Netflix currently lists eight episodes, with the first beginning on September 28 and the season continuing through the week.

That release pattern also makes Outside different from the usual full-season Netflix binge. Viewers have a reason to return almost every day.

LEGO One Piece – Netflix

For One Piece fans, September 29 brings something much lighter.

LEGO One Piece is a two-part animated special that retells events from the first two seasons of Netflix’s live-action series.

The clever part is the narrator.

Usopp tells the story to Tony Tony Chopper – and because Usopp is famous for exaggerating, Netflix has room to turn familiar moments into bigger and sillier LEGO versions of themselves.

Each episode runs around 30 minutes, and the live-action Straw Hat cast returns to voice their characters.

This is less a Season 3 bridge and more a fun way to revisit Seasons 1 and 2 from a completely different angle.

Mononoke The Movie: Chapter III – Netflix

Also arriving September 29 is Mononoke The Movie: Chapter III – The Curse of the Serpent.

This is the final movie in the trilogy that began with The Phantom in the Rain in 2024 and continued with The Ashes of Rage in 2025.

The Medicine Seller returns to the Ōoku as human grudges and tragedy create another supernatural threat. Netflix officially describes Chapter III as the grand finale of the trilogy.

For anime viewers, this is arguably one of the week’s easiest choices because it actually closes an existing story rather than beginning another long series.

Coyote vs. Acme – One Important Streaming Correction

Coyote vs. Acme also reaches home viewers on September 29 after one of the strangest journeys of any Hollywood movie in recent years.

The completed Looney Tunes film was shelved by Warner Bros. Discovery before Ketchup Entertainment eventually acquired it and gave it a theatrical release on August 28, 2026.

Now comes the important distinction.

Digital release does not mean subscription streaming.

The September 29 release is a premium digital purchase/rental release through services such as Prime Video and Apple TV in supported markets. It is not suddenly included free with a normal Prime subscription.

And for Indian readers, there is another catch.

As of September 29, JustWatch India still does not show an active Indian streaming offer for the movie.

So I would remove ZeePlex from the article unless an official Indian listing appears.

I would also avoid saying the movie has definitely crossed $100 million worldwide. Current box-office trackers have shown conflicting totals during its run, so the safer story is the one we can prove – a movie once intended to disappear has now reached theatres and digital stores.

That is interesting enough on its own.

September 30 – Prime Video and Netflix Get Busy

Dupahiya Season 2 – Prime Video

One date in the original draft needs correcting.

Prime Video’s official listing says Dupahiya Season 2 arrives September 30, not October 1.

Dhadakpur is back, but this time the chaos begins with a mobile tower.

Villagers start connecting the tower with everything from illness to natural disasters, while Inspector Mithlesh suspects something more calculated is happening.

Gajraj Rao, Renuka Shahane, Sparsh Shrivastava, Bhuvan Arora and Shivani Raghuvanshi return, with Dinesh Lal Yadav joining the cast.

The interesting thing about Season 2 is that the show is taking a very current issue – misinformation around technology – and putting it inside a small-town comedy.

That gives it more to work with than simply repeating the stolen-bike plot of Season 1.

The Arena – Netflix

Netflix also launches The Arena on September 30.

Professional fighters Ciryl Gane, Cédric Doumbè and Benoît Saint Denis put 38 amateur fighters through physical tests and cage bouts.

The winner is chasing €100,000 and a professional MMA contract.

If Netflix finds an audience here, combat sports could become another useful reality-TV format for the streamer instead of relying only on dating and social-experiment shows.

The Widower: ‘Til Death Do Us Part – Netflix

True-crime viewers get The Widower: ‘Til Death Do Us Part on September 30.

The documentary follows an investigation involving a man whose long history of marriages is connected with a series of suspicious deaths over roughly three decades.

For anyone who regularly watches Netflix crime documentaries, this is probably the week’s obvious late-night binge.

October 1 – Florence Pugh Leads Netflix’s Biggest Drama

East of Eden – Netflix

East of Eden arrives October 1 with all seven episodes.

Florence Pugh plays Cathy Ames, alongside Christopher Abbott as Adam Trask and Mike Faist as Charles Trask.

Zoe Kazan created the new adaptation of John Steinbeck’s novel, with the story stretching across generations of the Trask and Hamilton families.

There is also a nice bit of Hollywood history behind the project.

Zoe Kazan’s grandfather Elia Kazan directed the famous 1955 film adaptation starring James Dean, giving this new version an unusual personal connection to the material.

That is the kind of detail worth putting in an OTT article because it gives readers something beyond a date and platform.

Ohh My Dog – Netflix

Ohh My Dog arrives on Netflix on October 1 after releasing theatrically in August.

The film stars Pankaj Tripathi and Pavan Malhotra and connects two mysteries – a missing dog and a missing labourer.

Director Amit Rai uses the two storylines to mix investigation, comedy and the relationship between people and animals.

One correction here too – the platform is Netflix, not Prime Video.

October 2 Is the Real OTT Weekend

If you have limited time this week, this is the date worth remembering.

Pooja Meri Jaan – ZEE5

After a long wait, Pooja Meri Jaan finally arrives on ZEE5 on October 2.

The Navjot Gulati-directed Hindi crime drama stars:

Mrunal Thakur, Huma Qureshi, Vikram Singh Chauhan and Vijay Raaz.

ZEE5’s official description keeps the story fairly simple – Pooja’s life falls into danger as obsession, fear and truth collide.

I would avoid over-explaining the plot before release because some circulating summaries currently reveal more than ZEE5’s own official material.

Bethlehem Kudumba Unit – JioHotstar

For Indian streaming, this may be the week’s biggest post-theatrical arrival.

Bethlehem Kudumba Unit streams on JioHotstar from October 2.

Directed by Girish A.D., the Malayalam romantic comedy-drama stars Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju as Justin and Ashley.

The movie released theatrically on August 21 and remained in cinemas right up to its streaming window. JioHotstar has now confirmed its October 2 premiere.

Reports place its theatrical worldwide collection above ₹300 crore, making the jump from a major cinema run to home viewing part of the story rather than just another OTT release.

Why this release is worth watching

A few years ago, a huge Malayalam theatrical hit might have mainly been marketed to Kerala audiences.

Now Bethlehem Kudumba Unit is scheduled for streaming in Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.

That is a good example of how OTT is changing the life of regional films after their theatrical run.

#Love – Netflix

Netflix’s Tamil series #Love arrives on October 2 with an unusually current romantic setup.

Aishwarya Lekshmi plays Tara, founder of compatibility-based dating app FOUND.

Arjun Das plays Matthew, whose rival app Find My Bae believes chemistry matters more.

The two founders end up testing their own ideas about relationships.

The series is produced and showrun by Soundarya Rajinikanth and directed by Balaji Mohan.

That gives the show an easy real-world hook:

Tyler Perry’s Doing Life – Netflix

Doing Life also premieres October 2.

Tyler Perry writes and directs the drama about a struggling single mother and a reformed ex-con who form an unexpected connection.

The cast includes Naomi Baker, Jay Reeves, Tamberla Perry, Karen Obilom, Jasmine Sargent and Danielle Moné Truitt.

One correction from the original draft – Netflix’s official synopsis does not describe the leads as Anika and Carousel, so I would remove those names unless stronger credits confirm them.

The Last First: Winter K2 – Apple TV

If you want something completely different, Apple TV has The Last First: Winter K2 on October 2.

The documentary follows a dangerous 2021 expedition involving Icelandic mountaineer John Snorri Sigurjónsson and Pakistani climbers Ali and Sajid Sadpara as teams attempt to conquer K2 during winter.

Director Amir Bar-Lev also looks at how commercial climbing, influencers and film crews changed high-altitude mountaineering.

That angle makes it more than another survival documentary.

Schumacher ’94 – Netflix

Formula 1 viewers also get Schumacher ’94 – The Birth of a Legend on October 2.

The documentary revisits Michael Schumacher’s first Formula 1 World Championship season through interviews and archive footage.

With F1 now reaching far beyond traditional motorsport fans through streaming documentaries and social media, this is the type of title that could find a much younger audience than a normal historical sports film.

OTT is no longer one type of entertainment.
